Crazy Quilt Challenge Finished!

I finally finished my Crazy quilt challenge for Evening Star Designs. I really enjoyed this challenge. I feel it really made me stretch. Now hopefully since the due date is this Saturday, I won't have to wait too long to hear the results.

Diaper bag

Here is a diaper bag that I made for my grand daughter Emma. I made the pattern myself. I included a waterproof pocket on the outside for wet clothes, and a zippered pocket inside for hair bows and bracelets. The bottom is also covered in vinyl so it can be easily sanitized.

Evening star challenge

I am participating in Evening Star Design's challenge. Here is my completed base which I will know begin to embellish and encrust. I can't wait to see how this turns out. I decided to try something new which is to do the hexagon shaped blocks. I figured hexagons would be good for an enchanted theme since hexs are spells or enchantments.

Take a Stitch Tuesday

I am taking a class from Sharon B and tried her Take a Stitch Tuesday Challenge for the week. It is a buttonhole herringbone stitch and I love it! Very dimensional. I have also included a photo of another seam treatment I did tonight. I mixed a DMC floss herringbone with wool thread lazy daisies and for contrast put a stitch of rayon floss inside of each lazy daisy.

Initial progress on block

I am working on one of my blocks right now, adding the first layer of seam treatments. Here are a few photos.

Crazy quilt bases

Here are the first two blocks for Sharon B's Encrusted crazy quilt class. I think I like the one with the paisley in the middle the best. Tomorrow, I am going to try a completely different palette. I want to have several blocks to practice new techniques with.

Need help with crazy quilt block

I am taking Sharon B's Encrusted Crazy Quilting class at http://www.joggles.com/ I am trying to decide on the fabrics for my block for the class. I have assembled lots of possibilities. I know that there are more than I need and that some are wrong choices, but would like some help choosing. These are not colors I normally work with, which is kind of the point, but I got the patterned fabrics in a swap and thought they would make a cool block. Let me know what you think, the roses and the yellows are what i am not sure of. Thanks

Crazy quilted ring bearer pillow

I just made this ring bearer pillow for my stepson and his fiance. I had a lot of fun embellishing it and learning new things. There are ribbons on each corner that are tied underneath the pillow now, that during the wedding will be hold the rings.

Crazy quilt fan block

I worked with an amazing group of ladies in a round robin. You can see all of the blocks here. When I got mine home I added more bling. Then I prepared it for hanging using Alison Aller's method with foam core. It worked wonderfully, I am so pleased.

Quilt Retreat

I went to an awesome retreat with the Valley of the Sun Quilters. Patrick Lose came and did a trunk show. I bought tons of his amazing satinesque fabric which I then used as the background for my lone star and the background for his Love Blossoms pattern. Here they are. On Love Blossoms I only used one color for all the pieces and then blanket stitched around every piece in white. I love how it turned out!

Doll Quilt IV

Here is the mini quilt that I made for Peni on the about.com quilting forum. It is a 19 inch circle, each fan block is 2 inches. I had a lot of fun with this one. It has micro stippling in all the black areas and trapunto on the fans. This is my first round quilt.

Crazy quilt round robin

I am doing a round robin with 4 of my online friends. Ami, Rebecca, Lou, and Cris. We just mailed our naked blocks to the first person on the list. Here they are in order of the names I posted above. Mine is the one with the fan, Ami's is the landscape, Rebecca's is the autumn colors, Lou's is the one with the tapestrys, and Cris's is jewel tones & black. I can't wait to see how these progress.
